Staff Reporter :Indian Border Security Force (BSF) shot dead two Bangladeshi cattle traders on Putkhali frontier under Benapole land port in Bangladesh’s bordering district of Jessore early Saturday.Three other traders were also wounded during the firing, our Jessore correspondent reported. The dead were identified as Shanto Islam, 40, son of Abu Hanif and Aku Mia, 29, son of Azizur Rahman from Putkhali village under Benapole port police station in Jessore, said Lieutenant Colonel Jahangir Hossain , Commanding Officer, 26 Border Guard Battalion.He said, “The two cattle traders died in BSF firing near Daulatpur frontier around 5:30am on Saturday. BSF troops of Ghonermath camp opened fire when the Bangladeshi cattle traders were returning home from India with cattle, leaving five of them injured.” “Of them, Shanto died at Kogojpukur and Aku Mia died at Navaran Hospital after he had been taken there with critical bullet wounds,” the CO said.Three others, who were wounded in the firing, are Saiful Islam, 30, Altaf Hossain, 28, and Sabuj Hossain, 34. They were undergoing treatment at different clinics.Locals said that the BSF fired several rounds of gunshots at Bangladeshi cowboys when they were returning home.
