Two flights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines to Kuwait were cancelled on Saturday as Kuwait imposed ban on flights to and from seven countries, including Bangladesh in view of Coronavirus outbreak.
Bangladesh Civil Aviation Ministry said it in a press release.
It said that one of the flights was scheduled for today, while another for Tuesday, according to the press release.
Further information regarding the cancelled flights will be exposed later, it said.
Kuwait suspended all flights to and from Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Bangladesh, Philippines, India, and Sri Lanka for a week starting from Saturday, said Kuwait’s Civil Aviation Directorate in a tweet message.
The Kuwait government has also banned entry of anyone who was in the seven countries in the last two weeks except for Kuwaitis coming from the seven countries. They will be allowed entry but will have to submit to quarantine procedures, the Civil Aviation Directorate added.
Earlier on March 3, the Arab country declared that citizens from 10 countries including Bangladesh, Turkey, India, and Egypt must produce certificates issued by the Kuwaiti Embassy in their country, saying they are coronavirus-free. Later the cabinet of the country on Wednesday cancelled the statement and said, several countries among the 10 have not sufficient capability to check Coronavirus. So, the cabinet decided to retract the previous statement. In the latest development, the Arab country imposed this week-long travel ban for those seven countries on the same issue.
