At least 18 people, including an UP Chairman, were killed and 100 more seriously injured in separate road crashes across the country on Thursday.
In Gopalganj, at least 11 persons died and 20 others were fatally injured following collision between a bus and a auto-rickshaw collision at Haridaspur of the district on the Dhaka-Khulna highway.
Besides, 15 people were injured. The accident occurred at 6 pm on Thursday.
Rescue operation is underway. Details will be informed later, Rubel Sheikh, a fire service official, told the media.
Gopalganj Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Monirul Islam confirmed it.
In Bagerhat, at least four persons were killed and several others injured in the district on the day.
At Rampal upazila, at least three persons died and 20 others critically injured when a bus overturned on the Khulna-Mongla Highway in Rampal upazila of Bagerhat early Thursday.
Two of the deceased were identified as Ferdous, son of Abu Taher in Perikhali village under Rampal, Md Kamrul, son of Sarwar Hossain in Mongla municipality.
The injured were sent to various clinics and Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH), said Katakhali Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Moloy Roy.
At Morelganj, an unidentified woman was killed in a motorbike in Bagerhat (55). The accident took place at Nalbunia of the upazila.
Morelganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) KM Azizul Islam confirmed the matter to the press.
In Brahmanbaria, A Union Parishad (UP) Chairman named Md Hasan Khan of Nasirnagar Upazila was killed in a road accident when a CNG-propelled auto rickshaw rammed him in his own upazila.
The accident took place at Gokarna Union on Thursday.
Hasan Khan, son of late Malon Kha, from Gokarna village of Gokarna Union, died on the way to district Sadar Hospital.
Ranjan Kumar Ghosh, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nasirnagar Police Station confirmed the matter to media.
In Noakhali, a old woman named Zakera Begum (65) was killed in a road accident at Tafadar of Amanatpur Union in the district.
The incident took place on the Laxmipur-Choumohani Road around 10:30 am on Thursday.
Nur Alam, Sub Inspector of Begumganj Police Station confirmed the news to media.
In Rangpur, at least 25 people were injured in a road accident in Pirgachha upazila of Rangpur district on Thursday afternoon.
The injured
were admitted to Pirgachha Upazila Health Complex and Rangpur Medical College Hospital, said Pirgachha Police Station Sub-Inspector Obaidul Islam.
