Chittagong Bureau :
During the period of first six months of the current calendar year , 177 persons were died of 214 road mishaps and 793 injured in Chittagong . The report was published by the Bangladesh Jatri Kaylan Samity, Chittagong Regional Cmmittee on Monday .
Monitoring cell of the Samity collected this information during the last 6 moths.
According to information, 34 person killed and 134 injured in 39 incidents during January last.
In February 13 killed, 56 injured in 28 incidents , in March 19 killed, 142 injured in 27 incidents, in April 41 killed, 109 injured in 31 mishaps, in May 39 killed, 158 injured in 48 mishaps and in June 31 killed, 104 injurd in 46 mishaps.
Among the killed includes 66 drivers, 16 transport workers, 56 pedestrians, 5 armed forces men, 27 police members, , 3 doctors and two teachers. Sources said due to negligence of driving of vehicles, these unwanted incidents occurred.
President of Regional committee of Jatri Kaylan samity Mozammel Hoque Cowdhury told that maximum incidents occurred at Sitakunda , Mirsarai portions of Dhaka-Chittagong highway following the high speed driving of cargo trucks and covered vans and others occurred on Chittagong-Cox’Bazar highway at Patiya, Chandanaish, Dohazari, Chokoria area of south chittagong. He further said during the period 14 were killed in train accidents including 6 in sitakunda, 2 in Mirsarai, 2 in Baizid, one in Chittagong old rail station , 2 at Paharlali one at Chandgaon .
