17 Indian fishermen land in jail

17 Indian fishermen who were arrested by Bangladedsh Coast Guard (BCG) on the charge of illegal intrusion into Bangladesh water territory and catching fish from there on Tuesday was sent to Bagerhat jail (hajat) on Thursday noon as per the order of a court of Bagerhat district.
It is learnt from a source of the BCG that on Tuesday afternoon when a contingent of the coastguards of the Western Zone deployed at Mongla was discharging their normal patrol duties in the Bay of Bengal they caught an Indian fishing trawler named FB Maa Shibani and arrested its all the 17 fishermen while they were catching fish from the Fair Buoy area of the Bay of Bengal, 75 nautical miles off Mongla Sea Port after illegally crossing the border of Bangladesh water territory mad recovered one tone of different spices of fish . All the arrested fishermen hail from the West Bengal province of India. The seized trawler and fishing nets, arrested fishermen and the recovered fish were handed over to Monmgla PS on Wednesday night by the coastguards. The recovered fish was sold in auction and the sale proceeds were deposited in the government fund. Md. Iqbal Bahar Chowdhujry, Officer-in-charge of Mongla PS told. after registering a case with the PS against the arrested Indian fishermen on the charge of illegal intrusion of Bangladesh water territory and catching fish from there they (Indian fishermen) were sent to the court at Bagehat district headquarters on Thursday noon and the judge of the court passed order to send them to Bagerhat jail (hajat).
