Accidents are gradually increasing on the roads of Ishwardi due to reckless speeding of various vehicles including truck-bus, CNG, Vatvati and motorcycle. People walking on the road are scared. Due to non-compliance with traffic laws, reckless speeding has become the norm. That is why in the outgoing year 2021, there were 161 accidents on the roads and highways of Ishwardi. 29 people were killed in road accidents here. That means an average of two people per month. 169 people were injured at the time.
Most of these accidents are due to reckless and excessive speed of drivers and non-compliance with traffic laws, Ishwardi Traffic, Highway Police and Fire Service and Civil Defense Office sources said.
In the outgoing year, 23 people died in road accidents on Ishwardi Highway. There have been 17 cases in these accidents. The number of accidents on different roads of the upazila is 144. 6 people died in it. The number of injured is 169. The number of motorcycle-related accidents was higher than the number of other accidents, the agencies said.
However, the number of casualties in private road accidents may be higher. Casualties and road accidents are constantly taking place on the roads and highways due to the reckless speed of vehicles including bus-trucks, CNG, motorcycles and illegal vehicles.
It is learned that the number of accidents is increasing due to reckless movement of CNG and motorcycles besides sand loading trucks on Upazila Road, Tipu Sultan (Pakshi-Ishwardi), IK (Ishwardi-Kushtia), Ishwardi-Pabna road are the spots of accidents.
