Detectives in a raid detained two suspected smugglers with 14 lakh Yaba pills in Sadar upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday afternoon.
During the drive conducted in Choufaldandi ghat around 2:30pm, the DB members also seized a trawler used in the smuggling. The detainees are: Jahirul Islam, 37, son of Nazrul Islam; and Md Babu, 55, from Uttar Nuniarchhara under Cox’s Bazar pourasava. M Hasanuzzaman, superintendent of Cox’s Bazar Police, said this is the highest ever haul of the contraband tablets.
