Distribution of 5,000 blankets allocated from the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund and another 2,000 pieces of blankets given by the Speaker of the Jatiya Sangshad completed in Pirganj upazila here on Tuesday evening.
The blankets given by Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury were distributed among the cold-hit poor and distressed people at two separate ceremonies arranged at Shanerhat and Barodorga unions in Pirganj upazila on Tuesday evening.
Pirganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer(UNO) ATM Ziaul Islam distributed the blankets among the clod-hit people of these two unions at these ceremonies as the chief guest to complete the whole distribution process of the total 7,000 blankets in the upazila.
Gopalganj Correspondent adds: Agrani Bank Limited, a nationalized commercial bank, has distributed 4,000 blankets among the cold-hit people of Gopalganj on Wednesday.
The blankets were distributed among the 4,000 cold-hit poor people of Tongipara and Kotalipara upzilas of Gopalganj district by the Awami league leaders and high officials of the bank.
Directors of the bank AKM Manzurul Hoque Lablu and Balaram Podder, President of Tongipara upazila unit of Awami League Abdul Halim, Kotalipara upazila chairman Mujibur Rahman Hawlader and former chairman of Tongipara upazila Soliman Biswas, among others, were present on the occasion.
