Rajon murder: 11 witnesses testified again

Eleven witnesses testified again before a court here on Wednesday in the teenage boy Rajon murder case.
The recording of statements of the witnesses began at 11:40 am and continued till 1:30 pm.
Sylhet Metopolitan Magistrate Shahedul Karim, Anwarul Haq, Jalalabad thana OC Akhter Hossain, SI(suspended) Aminul Islam, Rajon’s father Azizur Rahman, his mother Lubna Begun, Al Amin, Ishtiaq Ahmed Chowdhury , Belal Ahmed, Korban Ali and Aftab Miah made their depositions before the court yesterday, said Rajon’s father’s lawyer Adv Shawkat Chowdhury.
Earlier on Tuesday, judge of Sylhet
Metropolitan Session Judge Akbar Hossain Mridha fixed the date for retaking the depositions of 11 witnesses following a petition filed by prime accused of the murder case Kamrul’s lawyer for recording the witnesses’ depositions in Kamrul’s presence.
Earlier, the court completed recording of depositions of 36 witnesses from October 1 to 18. Kamrul, who fled to Saudi Arabia after the murder, was brought back home on October 15.
On July 8, 13-year-old boy Sheikh Samiul Alam Rajon, son of Sheikh Azizur Rahman of Badeali village in Sadar upazila of Sylhet, was brutally tortured to death over a theft at Sundar Ali Market in Kumargaon area of Sylhet city.
The killers themselves took the video footage of the incident, which went viral on social networking site Facebook and video-sharing site Youtube which triggered a widespread outcry.
Ten people were arrested in connection with the gruesome murder and eight of them made ‘confession’ separately to their involvement in the incident.
Later, the investigation officer of the case submitted charge sheet accusing 13 people on August 16 before the court in Sylhet.
