Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, in charge of Post, Telecommunications and ICT Ministry in parliament, on Tuesday informed the House that optical fiber cable and transmission machineries are being set up along nearly 11,000 kms in 1006 unions of 98 upazilas under 64 districts.
The work is to end June, 2016. A total of 108 unions under 93 upazilas have already come under the optical fiber cable network through the BTCL,” he saidwhile replying to a question of treasury bench member Begum Washika Aysha Khan.
Besides, a project to set up optical fiber cable network in 1000 union parishads is being processed to install cable and transmission machineries along nearly 10,500 kms.
