The hundred-year old wine store at Astomonisha Bazar under Bhangura Upazila has been closed at the order of the Deputy Commissioner of Pabna recently.
For this reason, people of this area are very happy. It is learnt that this shop had the license from the British period to sell alcohol. But twenty years ago the licensee became invalid but the business was going on. As a result, many young people of the area were being addicted. Even they are involved in various criminal activities. Local people applied to the DC of Pabna to save the youths .
Jasim Uddin, DC confirmed the matter and said that the Directorate of Narcotics Control has recently issued order to close the wine shop. He further said that the store had no validity for the past several years.
Md Masudur Rahman, UNO, Bhangura Upazila said that the vendor will not be able to continue the business.
