City Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin said 100 air-conditioned city buses will be deployed in the port very shortly aimed at better bringing discipline in public transport system and safe passenger services.
A private industrial enterprise has been requested to procure these AC buses from abroad and in the meantime LC for importing the buses have been opened . He disclosed it while replying to the questions of city dwellers at a views exchange meeting in face to face seating at a city convention centre on Thursday last. The face to face seating of the city mayor was arranged by the Jamal Khan Ward .
Mayor to the questions of the city dwellers said the city will be turned into a green and clean city and seeks cooperation of the city people to sustain the development plans of the city. About waterlogging, Mayor said lack proper drainage system and drains within the city, the waterlogging problem arises. About Dengu, he said 161 conservancy workers and health volunteers are spraying anti-mosquito medicines in 41 wards of the city. Mayor further disclosed that for the better interest of the city people I could not avail any advantages including my remunerations from the corporation and this amount is being utilized for poor students and patients .
City Mayor also apprised that a Technical Training centre will be established in the city aimed at imparting training to the foreign bound manpower . He said CCC had realized highest tax last year amounting to Tk.58 crores and total expenditures stand at Tk.260 crores . Highest subsidy given in education and health sector of CCC. City Mayor discussed the different issues of Jamal Khan ward and replied to a number of questions of the participants . City in his concluding speech focused on instant remedies for these prevailing problems and depicted his future development plans to the attendance.
