A total of 1, 25,236 examinees, who passed the Higher Secondary Certificate and its equivalent examinations, have submitted applications to the Inter-Education Board Coordination Sub-committee for review of their results.
Most of them applied for re-evaluating their answer sheets in English, ICT and Physics. A good number of students applied for two to three subjects for review.
They hope that they will have definitely better result if the boards look into their answer sheets sincerely.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid announced the results in a press briefing at his Ministry office on July 19.
A total of 8, 58,801 examinees, out of 12, 88,757, came out successful in the examinations.
Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka is on the top in respect of submission of the applications.
As many as 46,370 students applied for review of their English, ICT and Physics results.
In Chattogram Board, the number of examinees who applied for review is 17, 740.
A total of 3,783 students applied for review of their results in Barishal Board, the number is 13,428 in Rajshahi Board, 8,857 in Dinajpur Board, 7,629 in Sylhet Board, 9,355 in Cumilla Board and 13,154 in Jeshore Board.
The number of students who applied for result re-evaluation under Technical Education Board and Madrasha Board could not be known.
Tapan Kumar Sarker , Controller of Inter-Education Board Coordination Sub-committee and Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka said, the percentage of total HSC results is lower this year than the previous years. That is why the applications for reviewing the answer sheets have increased.
“The questions of English, ICT and Physics were tough. As a result, the students could not get expected results,” he said.
“The students can see their marks attained in the answer sheets. Most of the students who got 58, 59, 68, 69, 78, and 79, applied for reevaluation. They think that it could be mistake in counting of their marks,” Tapan Kumar Sarker said.
“The final result of reevaluation will be published on August 22,” the controller said.
Chairman of Dhaka Education Board Professor M Ziaul Haque told The New Nation, “There is no scope to re-evaluate the answer sheets. The Board officials just recount the numbers.”
“If any mistake is made in counting the numbers the Board will take appropriate initiative. We also want to give the numbers to the students what they earned,” he said.
It may be mentioned that the HSC theory examinations were held between April 2 and May 13 and the practical examinations were held from May 14 to May 23.
